We are the David Buckland Trust, a charity dedicated to funding and promoting the importance of languages education for all. We aim to continue the work of the late David Buckland in ‘Broadening Horizons Through Languages’ and we offer grants for the study of foreign languages in schools across the UK.

Report from Sudan – Building Horizons
A grant was awarded to The Gordons School to assist in funding a week long school visit for 10 students and 2 staff members to Khartoum International Community School. In preparation for the visit the students learnt basic Arabic and cultural studies. You can read more about this initiative in the Semper Fidelis newsletter here.
Greenfields Primary School in Borehamwood was awarded £800 to enable 50 children to take part in a French project through the Arsenal Double Club Languages Project. The Arsenal Double Club uses Arsenal and football to show pupils that language learning can be achievable, rewarding and, above all, fun! We are proud to have been able to fund a school to take part in this new and innovative languages initiative.
For the first time The David Buckland Trust awarded a grant for education in India. We awarded a grant to 2 school children to enable them to study English as a second language amongst their other subjects. We hope to continue to be able to reach farther afield in our work in the future.
The trustees met over the summer to discuss the year ahead – in the FY 2017 // 2018 we have supported students and schools across the UK in the giving of grants and awards. We saw our annual award to Our Lady’s convent High School reach it’s second successful year and we’re busily planning for the 3rd.
New award for school – funded by the DB Trust
A delayed but nevertheless fantastic piece of news – The David Buckland Trust has partnered with Our Lady’s Convent High School to set up a yearly award which will see a financial grant go to one of the students showing exceptional commitment to languages studies. We recently awarded our first endowment to Taiwo, who is now studying at Oxford University. You can read more about the award here
